Current Projects
The aim of the Growth and Development Project is to provide A more secure, diverse and responsive local community development organisation.
Objectives:
- Discover community requirements for the Alliance through consultation
- Design changes to the organisation according to the findings of the consultation
- Implement the changes
The consultation will re-define what the community expects of the Alliance; provide the Alliance with the resources it needs; design appropriate structures that will meet the expectations of the community and put those structures in place.
The structures and roles of the Alliance will be redesigned so that a secure source of core funds can be generated that will allow the organisation to continue providing the kind of assistance that the local community requires, but for which there is often no funding support from the agencies.
Consultation Phase
An independent consultation was carried out by Chris Conniff, aimed at contacting as many local organisations as possible to ascertain community needs.
Design Phase
Throughout 2009, Chris visited a number of groups that have faced similar constraints to learn from them. During this time, research was conducted into the alternative structures that may be appropriate for the Alliance to adopt.
Implementation Phase
The Alliance’s governing documents (the Memorandum and Articles of Association) will be amended if and as required by the new structures. Following this, the structures themselves will be put in place.
Outcomes
To secure locally available development advice and technical assistance and funding support for the community whilst ensuring security and sustainability for Wester Ross Alliance.
